Trenance Learning Academy is a mixed gender school providing Foundation Stage and Key Stage One education for four to seven year olds in Newquay and the surrounding area. The Academy provides education for 390 pupils organised into four/five form entry year groups. We have been judged as Ofsted Outstanding since April 2010 and since then have continued to secure outcomes above the National figures in reading, writing and maths in both Early Years and Key Stage 1. In 2018 we were designated by the Minister for School Standards as an English Hub, one of only 34 in the country and the only one in Cornwall. As an English Hub we support over 150 schools in how to teach reading. We are also the lead school for the Kernow Teaching School Alliance (KTSA) and work in partnership to help schools across Cornwall to keep improving.
Our happy school is led by Executive Headteacher, Clare Crowle, a National Leader of Education. We are fortunate to have eight Designated Specialist Leaders of Education (SLE) and an outstanding team of teachers and support staff who help ensure that teaching, learning, behaviour and safety are the best they can be for our children, families and staff. As the largest provider of infant education in Cornwall, we recognise the importance of early childhood education and make it our mission to ensure that every child leaves us able to read, write, be a good friend, and have a wide knowledge of our world and a deep love of learning.
